Fun Peony Facts

Peonies can live up to 50 - 100 years!! 

Each different variety of peonies smell different!

They most commonly symbolize bringing good fortune and a happy marriage.

Each variety blooms at different times! Some open around late Spring; others open around late May. 

Peonies are Perennials. This means they come back every year without you having to plant new ones. 

Ants are good for them! They are attracted to the nectar of peonies & help protect it by keeping other harmful insects away. Yay ants!

Herbaceous peonies are the most common types of peonies. They have soft stems that are easy to cut. Their stems and leaves die and fall to the ground each winter.

Tree peonies are less common. As opposed to herbaceous peonies, tree peonies have hard woody stems that do not die to the ground each year & can grow to around 4-5 feet tall!

Peonies thrive and flourish the most when they are in an area that has full sun, with long cold winters.
